Who regulates payday loans in Saskatchewan?
The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority, or FCAA, licenses payday lenders and keeps a public list of who holds a licence. If a lender isn’t on that list, it isn’t allowed to lend to you, however professional its website looks.
How much will a payday loan cost?
The cap is $14 per $100. Borrowing $700 costs up to $98, and you’d repay $798. A bounced payment can add a capped fee from the lender plus whatever your bank charges for NSF.
What should I know before signing in Saskatchewan?
- The lender has to give you the full cost in writing before you sign.
- A lender can’t extend or replace your loan with a new one that includes the old balance.
- If you’re struggling with repeat loans, the FCAA’s consumer staff and non-profit credit counsellors can explain your options.
