Privacy policy

Last updated:

[For your lawyer to review and finalize before launch.] This outline reflects how Koke is built.

  1. Who we are: Koke, operated by [legal name], [address]. Privacy Officer: [name], [privacy@koke.ca].
  2. What we collect on the application page: the amount and reason for the loan; your province, street address, city, postal code and how long you’ve lived there; whether you rent or own, your monthly housing payment and (if you own) your home’s rough value and mortgage balance; your income source, monthly income band, employer, job title, time in the job, pay frequency and next payday; whether your pay is deposited directly; a rough figure for other debts; whether you’re in a consumer proposal, debt management program or bankruptcy; a self-rated credit level; your name, date of birth, email and mobile number; your IP address and browser type (the partner requires these to prevent fraud); and your consent choices. We send these over an encrypted connection to LeadScout, which uses them to find a matching offer and may share them with the lenders and loan providers it works with. On Koke we keep only your province, the first three characters of your postal code, the amount, your income source and pay frequency, a scrambled IP address, the consent record, the partner’s response status and campaign source. We don’t keep your name, contact details, street address, birth date or employer. We never ask for your SIN, online-banking password, bank account number or ID photos.
  3. What we collect elsewhere: answers to the optional lender-matching questions (province, city, amount band, employment type, pay frequency, whether you have a bank account), contact-form messages, and analytics data after you consent.
  4. What we never collect: your SIN, government ID images, online-banking usernames or passwords, or bank account and transit numbers.
  5. Who we share with: LeadScout when you submit the application form, and through LeadScout the licensed lenders and loan providers it matches you with; hosting, email and analytics providers [list with country]. LeadScout and those lenders handle your information under their own privacy policies. The newsletter and text-message boxes on the form are optional and unticked by default.
  6. How long we keep it: application and matching records 180 days; click records 24 months; contact messages 12 months.
  7. Your rights: access, correction, withdrawing consent, and complaints to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial commissioner.
  8. Cookies: strictly necessary cookies by default; analytics and advertising only after you accept.
  9. Changes and contact: version history and how to reach us.
